One question I am frequently asked by parents whose child has had a febrile convulsion is, "Can we do anything to stop this happening again?" 

I have always said no and that whilst giving regular paracetamol might logically be the answer, the research doesn't support this. A new open access paper published in the October edition of Paediatrics is the first paper to suggest otherwise.
